Clarion has 5 beautiful parks that can be utilized for many activities.
The beautiful GAZEBO PARK located in the downtown area on Highway Three West has been used for weddings, wedding receptions and of many other unique gatherings. Each year on the second week-end in June, The Gazebo Park hosts our famous "Festival In The Park Celebration". This is our communities' annual celebration combining community and area parade participants, musical and other acts preformed on the permanent stage, craft vendors set up in the park, activities for children of all ages and food provided by local organizations.
During the summer months various local organizations have fund raisers by providing a meal while you enjoy local musical entertainment on the permanent stage for "Monday Night Music In The Park".
2010 will bring our 4th Teddy Bear Reunion, which occurs every 5 years. This event brings thousands of bear artist, collectors and interested people from around the world.
The Aquatic Center Park is great for family reunions, graduation parties, school activities and special community meals.
Fireman's Park is located in the south part of town and has a skate board facility, children's play equipment and can be used for picnics and social gatherings.
Lions Park has two ball diamonds and is busy in the summer with many children and adult softball and baseball leagues.
Hansen Park hosts the Clarion/Goldfield High School baseball games and many of the Clarion recreation children's practices and games.
Recreation
The City of Clarion is proud of their recreation program. Tom Simmons is the full-time recreation director with an office located at Clarion/Goldfield schools, phone number (515) 532-2482. Several programs are offered throughout the year, including fall programs of flag football, pop football, soccer for all ages, and the IPRA Place, Kick and Throw competition. All school aged children can be involved in these programs. Registration forms are available at Clarion/Goldfield School registration or from the director at the school. Coed volleyball league is offered during the winter months and coed slow pitch league for the summer months. The recreation director also organizes the Clarion/Goldfield Grandparent's Night, the annual Easter egg hunt and the junior wrestling takedown tournament.
